City/State: Albany , New York
Event Card: Updated July 11, 2001

Part One | Part Two ~ KANE and 'Taker | Part Three

Ring Announcer promotes more merchandise and announces a 15 minute Intermission. During intermission they had a drawing for a JVC sound system! We took pictures of each other! LOL! Then more pyros and on to the next segment!

Seventh Match: WWF vs. ECW
"The One" Billy Gunn vs. Raven ~ WWF ref.

Raven came out first, and STILL got pretty good support from fans. After Gunns entrance, they went after each other with a vengeance - but Billy put a real hurtin on Raven. "The One" used his The One and Only, felling Raven and getting the win. After Billy left, Raven seemed to have a terrible time getting to his feet and staying there, then stumbled on out.

  Eigth Match: Intercontinental Title Match
Albert vs. Hugh Morrus ~ WWF ref.

SHORTEST of all the matches! Albert defeated Hugh Morrus by pinfall with the Baldo Bomb, retaining the Intercontinental Championship. I was privileged to see what in Albert has impressed Taker and some pretty good action from Morrus.
Ninth Match: Four-team Elimination
Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Lance Storm & Chris Kanyon ~ WCW ref.

About now, there is a HUGE surge forward as females - ALL ages! - move into position to get snapshots of the WWF Cover Boyz - Matt n Jeff and Edge n Christian. I was too busy trying to calm Martin down - he LOVES Lita - because he couldnt see Lita coming out again! Everybody took up positions around the ring corners, and there seemed to be some confusion as to who would start off! Christian and Kanyon ended up taking the first round. A lot of high-flying action found Lance Storm & Kanyon eliminated first when Kanyon was pinned by Edge.

More all around brawling - then when Matt was doing a HARD number on Buh Buh, Buh Buh signals for a time out! He then tells the ref that Matt was pulling his HAIR! This drew huge laughs from fans and a few, loudly, asked "WHAT HAIR??!?" Edge & Christian were eliminated next after a 3D by the Dudleyz.

Jeff got the "Wassup-crunch" (without the shout), then there was out-of-the ring scuffling by Matt and Jeff on D-Von. Lita took advantage of Buh Buh being left alone in the ring and did her signature move on him, Matt then gave him the Twist of Fate, followed by the Swanton Bomb got the pin. Winners: The Hardy Boyz!
Before the Main Event, we were thanked by the Ring Announcer on behalf of the WWF and told they looked forward to coming back to Albany.

Main Event: WCW Title defended against WWF Superstar!
Booker T vs. Kurt Angle ~ WCW ref. Nick Patrick

Quick, pretty eventful match. Booker T enters first, then Angle enters to Olympic style theme. There's a lot of posturing in the ring as T jeers at Angle, teasing him with the WCW belt! Angle does a couple of Olympic Slams, and gets Booker in a beautifully executed pin - Patrick suddenly backs off and acts like he's got something in his eye!

Realizing that something was wrong, Angle let go and got up to approach the ref - who waved him back . . . straight into a waiting Booker T. Earl Hebner came out and challenged Patrick and the two refs got into a brawl! Meanwhile, Angle gives Booker a few more slams, and gets him down for the count again. Hebner crawls into the ring and begins to count Booker out but got pulled back out the ring by Patrick!

dx-23.jpg Eventually, Angle had Booker in the Ankle Lock and Booker tapped. Angle got distracted by the refs brawling, and got a chairshot to the back. Another WCW ref came out and counted Angle out, Booker T. retaining his WCW Title. As Patrick and Booker T helped each other out of the arena, Hebner and the other ref began to argue - Angle snuck in and got the ref in an Ankle Lock. HUGE reaction from the crowd!
For a couple of reasons, I prefer to watch Live Shows rather than TV. MOST obvious reason - I get to see the wrestlers "up close like!" LOL! It's hard (but NOT impossible!) to watch these entertainers after having seen them in person - TV seems to shorten and spread them out (DUH!!) These people are TRULY IN shape! I am always astounded when I see Taker in person (Yeah, its ONLY been twice, but I've been equally stunned each time!)

I also enjoy the repartee between the fans at live shows. I reeeally dislike all the "talk behind stage" coming from McMahon and company - at the tapings there's intervals of blank time left to make room for that - and the commercials that seem to come every ten minutes (we get to see the commercials if they are WWF related) - but at house shows there's NONE of that! HOORAH! There's no storyline continuation either - they come out, dazzle us, hang back a bit then . . . it's on to the next bout!

Given a choice of winning tickets to a RAW/SmackDown! show or a house show - I'd take the HOUSE SHOW. This was my first one, but certainly won't be my last!
